The Gentle AI Project · Live workshop
AI for Real Life
A gentle 1-hour live AI workshop for people who feel new or unsure about AI.
No jargon. No prior knowledge needed. No pressure to “keep up.”
Start here
If you've opened ChatGPT, asked it something and come away thinking that was either wrong or just… fine, you're not missing some trick. You're doing what most people do the first time.
Most people open ChatGPT, type a short question, read a bland answer and quietly decide it isn't for them. That's a reasonable conclusion to draw. It's also the wrong one, and the fix is smaller than you'd think.
Nothing in this hour requires you to be technical, quick, or already confident.
Why the answers come out flat
AI doesn't know your kitchen, your week or what you actually meant. Given almost nothing, it writes something safe and general. Give it a little to work with and the answer changes shape completely.
The hour itself
What's different by the end
The hour teaches a method, not a recipe. We use one worked example to learn it, planning meals from whatever happens to be in the fridge, because it's a real problem most people recognise. The method is the part you take away.
One useful thing you can do afterwards. That's the aim.
You'll walk away with
- Answers that are about your actual week, rather than the generic version.
- A way of spotting when it has got something wrong.
- A clearer sense of where it genuinely helps, and where I'd tell you not to lean on it.
- One useful thing you've done yourself, live, that you can do again tomorrow.
Once you've got the method, it goes anywhere
A difficult email, a letter to the school or council, getting your head round something unfamiliar, weighing up two options, planning a trip or turning a muddle of notes into a plan.
Who this is for
You'd like practical uses for everyday life, not workplace productivity hacks or technical deep-dives. You've heard about ChatGPT but never opened an account, or opened one and didn't know what to do next. You want someone patient to go slowly with you.
And probably not, if
You're already using ChatGPT regularly and want advanced techniques, or you're after professional advice on using AI in your business or career.

Come as you are
One hour, a small group, one useful thing you can actually do afterwards. That's the whole promise, and it's a proportionate one.
Full refund if you cancel more than 48 hours before the workshop. After that, you can move your place once to another Gentle AI Project workshop. If I cancel or move the workshop, you can choose a refund or transfer. Your statutory rights aren't affected.

The things people say first
Questions & hesitations
These come up nearly every time, so they're worth answering before you decide.
Reasonable hesitations
I'm worried I'll be the least confident person there.
You won't be able to tell, and neither will anyone else. Cameras and microphones are optional the whole way through, and plenty of people follow along with both off. The group is kept small precisely so nobody gets lost at the back.
I've tried before and felt stupid.
That's usually a teaching problem rather than a you problem. Most AI explanations are written by people who already know what a prompt is and forget to say. Nothing in this hour assumes you've got that background.
Isn't AI just going to get things wrong?
Sometimes, yes, and confidently. That's exactly why part of the hour is about how to check an answer and how to push back on one, rather than pretending it's reliable and hoping for the best.
I haven't got time to take something else on.
Then don't take something else on. This is one hour, once, with no course attached, no homework and nothing to catch up on.
Twenty pounds isn't nothing.
It isn't, and it's meant to be a low-risk way of finding out whether this is useful to you rather than a commitment to anything else. If you change your mind, there's a full refund up to 48 hours before, and after that you can move your place once to another workshop.
Anything else
Do I need an account set up beforehand?
No. If you want to type along with me a free account helps, and ChatGPT, Copilot, Gemini or Claude will all do. But you don't need one, and plenty of people watch the first time and try it themselves afterwards.
Will I have to be on camera?
No. Cameras and microphones are optional throughout, and you can take part entirely through the Zoom chat.
What if I can't make it on the day?
Get in touch at hello@thegentleaiproject.com and we'll sort it out. A person reads those.
Is it recorded?
The workshop is recorded privately for my own review and to improve the teaching. The full recording is deleted within 30 days, and you can take part without being identifiable if you'd prefer.
Is this about using AI at work?
No. It's about everyday life: planning, admin, letters, decisions. Workplace and business use is a different session.
If yours isn't here, ask me directly — I answer them myself.
